Newsflash!

Well folks, we are super excited about the upcoming Con and things are moving at about a million miles an hour. Take our guest list for example: Some of the greatest creators of women in comics have joined forces to help us celebrate 70 years of Wonder Woman; Brian Pulido of Lady Death, Billy Tucci of Shi, Joseph Michael Linsner of Dawn, Amanda Conner of Power Girl, Jenny Frison of Vampirella, Larry Welz of Cherry, David Mack of Kabuki, and Peter and Christie Marston of the Wonder Woman Estate, Son and Granddaughter of the world famous creator of Wonder Woman, William Moulton Marston. Our Comic Guest of Honor is the world famous Bill Stout whose credits not only span 40 years of comics, but also 40 years of film. Our Special Guests are Frank Cho, Gene Ha, and Phil Jiminez.  Regarding Phil; his mother has been diagnosed with cancer. Let’s all unite in our prayers for her rapid and full recovery.
As far as media talent we have a line up second to none. Brent Spiner is our Sci Fi Guest of Honor. People recognize him as Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation, as well as from Independence Day. Kristen Bauer and Sam Trammell of True Blood are huge headliners for us as they are both “A” list characters in that number 1 rated series. Kristen was unable to attend the Sci Fi Expo in August due to a hectic shooting schedule, but she was our first confirmed guest to this show as she was sad she could not attend then. We are also thrilled to welcome our latest additions: the legendary Dean Stockwell whose career spans over 65 years and Gil Birmingham from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1. Walking Dead guests we are glad to be bringing out are Madison Lintz who played Sophia in both season 1 and 2, Neil Brown Jr. who was also in Fast and Furious, Noel Gugliame, and Anthony Guajardo.
One of the most amazing actors I have ever had the joy of knowing, Cary Tagawa is also coming, fresh off filming with Keanu Reeves in 47 Ronin. You may all know Cary from Mortal Combat, Pearl Harbor, and American MeFalling Skies TV show is being well represented with Colin Cunningham, and Peter Shinkoda. That show is taking the earth invasion genre by storm. New Mexico has recently finished shooting The Avengers, Marvels newest feature film, and as such last year we got to experience un-announced guests from the Cast including Sam Jackson, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, and Clark Gregg who recently blogged about the group getting together and putting on hats and shades to sneak in and buy some comic books. Another major guest in attendance is Lou Ferigno who played the voice of the Hulk in every incarnation of the Hulk on screen. He amazed fans in his panel last year talking about overcoming obstacles to become the man we all know as the Hulk, and this year he returns to talk about his exploits in recent films. Lou is a great role model for those with disabilities and will gladly answer questions on overcoming them.

Nick Gillard was the stunt coordinator for Star Wars Episodes 1-3 and was also one of the Jedi Knights shown training the Jedi. In real life behind the scenes he was the instructor who taught light saber combat to Samuel L. Jackson, Ewin McGreggor, Ray Park, and every other Jedi from those three films. He is bringing this talent to Albuquerque Comic Con this January. This has only been done once before but he’s willing to show off his teaching talents by teaching a limited number of paid students the art of light saber combat as an exclusive at the Albuquerque Comic Con. VIPs get a 50% discount on actual hand on training and free admission to watch the class if they choose not to join in with the action.  I encourage anyone interested in this to buy a VIP pass to get the discount on the class. Tall Tales Comics has training swords and light sabers for sale if you don't have one.
The days schedule is as follows: Friday is Anime Day. The day we push for all Cosplay fans to come in character. There will be a costume contest put on by Lobo Anime. There will be NO media guests not associated with Anime or Video Games. Comic Talent and Anime guests will be our focus and you all will be the guests of honor when you come in costume. We are hosting an Anime Dance Contest after the showroom closes. It will run from 6-8pm.  Then from 8pm -2am there will be a private after party, Free for VIP’s or $5 per couple. Full on open dance will start, sponsored by Spiral Mind Comics and Matthew Rothblatt who will DJ the event. This will be at the Hard Rock Casino of Albuquerque in the Autograph Room. Very exciting stuff, also during the day there is a Scavenger Hunt presented by Lobo Anime with prize support provided by our convention dealers.
Saturday is Super Hero/Super Villain Day. All Media Guests will be in attendance that day from headliners to comic talent. Gaming tournaments will go on throughout the day. Warhammer, 40K, Magic the Gathering, L5R, and Hero Clix presented by Tall Tales Comics, Twin Suns Comics and Games, and Kaboom Test Labs. We are thrilled to have the support of these great comic shops in Albuquerque.
Costume contest of both Super Hero and Super Villain will be judged at the end of the day on Saturday. Saturday will be by far our busiest day so make a plan. Get the Floorplan available on our website. Make a map. You'll see everything if you are prepared.  Panels of all our guests will begin right at 10am with Photo ops provided by Froggy all day Saturday and Sunday. The after party Saturday will be announced closer to the show, but there will be events at the Hard Rock until 2am Saturday night.
Sunday is the day to make sure you have seen the dealer room. All our Celebrities should still be in the convention hall. Panels and Photo Ops continue all day long. Costumes of the Sci Fi Genre will be judged on Sunday for best Costume. Nick Gillard will be doing his Light saber Class on Sunday. This is a paid class, but remember, this is the guy who taught Mace Windu and Darth Maul to fight with a light saber!

Other events throughout the weekend:

Anime will be screened all three days in the Sunrise Room.

Artist Alley will be in the Hallway outside the dealer rooms and celebrity rooms. Be sure to spend some time there supporting our small press artist and creators.
